Hundreds of Tilburg City Council employees recently participated in the Cyber Escaperoom
an online game concept in which participants actively work to track down a hacker. The college and staff responded roundly to this fun way of learning in the Cyber Escaperoom.

To intrinsically motivate employees to sign up for the playful activity, a movie trailer was shot locally in which the alderman, CISO and FG explained the gravity of the situation. Then the avid participants went to work in teams of four to five.
In the escaperoom, they encountered assignments within the theme of information security and privacy. Afterwards, employees commented that it was surprising, fun and useful to work with (previously) unknown colleagues for a change: “Actually, everyone here should do this!
Great competition ensued among the teams to track down the hacker as quickly as possible and secure stolen data. In the end, all teams managed to crack the safe within the time limit.
